About Myself

Originally from Costa Rica, Dr. Gonzalez obtained his DDS at the University of Costa Rica in 1997 with emphasis in restorative dentistry and orthodontics. Upon receiving his degree, he opened his own private practice in his hometown Grecia, while also serving as a clinical instructor at the University of Costa Rica. In 2002 he was accepted in the graduate prosthodontics program at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas Texas. In 2005-2007 he took part in an implant fellowship program at the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Department at BCD, where he later obtained full time faculty appointment as Clinical Director for the Center of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Clinic and Assistant Professor for approximately 11 years. Currently he continues teaching and lecturing as an adjuvant professor at the Graduate Prosthodontics at Texas A&M College of Dentistry.

His background would not be completed without mentioning his dear mentors; Dr. Ronald Woody, Dr. Stephen Parel, Dr. Bob Schow and Dr. Gilbert Triplett, among many others. “I certainly owe them great deal of experience in prosthodontics, oral surgery and friendship”.

You may wonder “what is a prosthodontist?” It is certainly and unfortunately the least known dental specialty! A Prosthodontist has completed a three year program after dental school in an ADA accredited program, obtaining advanced training in replacing teeth and much more. Dr. Gonzalez usually describes “Prosthodontist is the quarterback of the team, who envisions the final outcome and sets up the strategy in collaboration with the other players to touchdown—the patient's final prosthetic restoration”.
